Tumescent Liposuction Technique

Image International Institute practices the tumescent technique for
liposuction procedures. This technique provides local anesthesia to large volumes
of subcutaneous fat permitting liposuction totally by local anesthesia. The tumescent
technique eliminates the need for general anesthesia and IV narcotics/sedatives.
It has been proven to be extremely safe. The tumescent technique for liposuction
has become the worldwide standard of care for liposuction because it has eliminated
surgical bleeding associated with older techniques. It is so complete that liposuction
can be done with virtually no blood loss. Other forms of liposuction are associated
with so much surgical blood loss that at times blood transfusions are needed.
The tumescent technique provides smoother liposuction results by using microcannulas which allow a more gradual and controlled removal of fat. Larger cannulas may remove fat too quickly which can cause the removal of too much fat, and it is more difficult to precisely control the direction of a large cannula. The use of a large cannula can produce depressions and irregularities in the skin.
The tumescent technique is safe and produces smoother results!
