FIT is an acronym for Follicular Isolation Technique. This technique was developed by Dr. Rose along with another physician. Together they invented the isolation device based on a 1mm punch. Using this device, individual follicular units are isolated and removed from the donor area. Then the follicular unit grafts are placed in the recipient area.

With this technique, patients can avoid concerns of linear scar in the donor area. If the patient shaves his head, tiny dots may be visible in the donor area. This technique is also very helpful for patients who have had the donor area depleted and are poor candidates for strip harvesting.
